Lauric Songs (BMI) was established in 1977 by Canadian songwriter Richard (Rick) Beneteau as the publishing company for his personal songs. In the early 1980's, Rick met Larry Thompson, a newly arrived Toronto transplant, who was working in the major studios there. He had written jingles for both Honda and Molson's and had such a reputation in the music community of Windsor that musicians has a nickname for him before he arrived - 24 Track Larry.

The two bonded and soon set up the first of three iterations of demo studio and their songs garnered several major songwriting contest wins including Billboard Magazine's International Songwriting Competition in it's first two years. Artists like Latin sensation, Wilkins (produced by Jon Secada and Emilio Estefan); Lenny Williams (Tower of Power vocalist) and the first Star Search Grand Champion, Catte Adams (produced by Charles Calello) among others, record Lauric songs. Rick was a Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Juno Award voting member.

Sadly though, in the early 1990's when things indeed looked very bright for the duo, Rick's recording studio (their third iteration), writing gear and production company were usurped in divorce. He continued on his musical path accepting the offer of starting the record company for a popular regional real estate mogul. After producing two albums with Canadian chart success, he opted to leave the business in the mid-90's - to start a new career on the-then brand new Internet where he ended up co-founding a heavily-endorsed humanitarian non-profit in 2006.

Although he was not directly involved in actually recording music for those few decades, his passion for creating music remained entrenched. He continued writing lyrics (many are offered for co-writing here), many of which were inspirational, or, 'change and cause lyrics' as he refers to them.

During these three decades, Larry recorded/mixed/produced many artists including the Neverending White Lights (Daniel Victor) albums, most notably engineering and mixing the hit single (SOCAN Song of the Year 2006 & 2011) The Grace, featuring City and Colour’s Dallas Green for which Larry earned a Gold Record in 2007.

In 2025, Rick and Larry decided to merge their talents again selecting the best-of their 1980's demos and rebuild from the ground up to broadcast quality standards and offer music supervisors and publishers an array of 1980's top quality pop productions for period pieces television and movies.
